Our Vision & Mission

Vision

We envision communities in the Puget Sound region, Washington state, and beyond, where educators learn and improve their practice together, and alongside students. This work supports the development of school communities that are connected, empowered, and engaged to prepare students for lifelong learning and opportunity. By focusing on supporting equitable access to developing these types of school communities and by focusing on the contributions that all participants bring to the conversation, we also envision this work as a step toward building a more just society.

Mission

Many faculty members and centers across the UW College of Education engage in research-practice partnerships with P-12 schools, district offices, community-based organizations and/or other education-focused sites. These partnerships are often established to design professional learning opportunities that wrap around children’s learning experiences. INSPIRE is a center for professional learning, created to help seed, cultivate, and sustain these types of partnerships. Our mission is to cultivate university-school-community collaborations to create joyful, meaningful, and equitable learning communities, experiences, and resources for educators and students. Our designs are co-created with practitioners who play a variety of roles in schools and other community organizations.
